The Battle of Lexington and Concord
- Evening of April 18 1775
- British Army set out to capture Samuel Admans and John Handcock and to destroy weapons within Concord
- Battle of Lexington was very small but it was the starting of the war
- When British arrived there were only 80 minuteman in the town
- Neither the British and american armies expected an actual fight
- After the colonists fled from Lexington the British made their way into Concord
- At first the British met little resistance and began to search the town for hidden weapons
- Short time after the British arrived the Americans crossed the bridge back into Concord
- The american army defeated the British troops at the North Bridge
- Colonel Francis Smith revealed that the american militia was gathering quickly
- The British began to retreat.
